Key Projects
US Army Corps of Engineers Sacramental River Dredge Material Evaluation – Port of Stockton
Directed field operations and collected sediment surface and core samples throughout the Sacramento River Delta Navigational Channel to delineate areas and depths of contaminated sediments prior to dredging. Performed sampling using a Van Veen grab for surface samples and a vibracore for sediment core samples.
US Navy Comprehensive Long-Term Environmental Action Navy III Program Fish and Sediment Sampling and Analysis Study -AECOM – 2009, 2012, and 2017 – Pearl Harbor, Hawaii
Directed field operations and collected target bottom fish and sediment samples throughout the Pearl Harbor Naval Complex to evaluate a potential link between sediment and fish tissue contamination and assess the human health risk associated with fish consumption. Successfully collected the target fish species bandtail goatfish using bottom deployed gill nets. Utilized a Van Veen to collect surface samples and a vibracore or piston core to collect sediment core samples for chemical and physical analysis.
US Navy Comprehensive Long-Term Environmental Action Navy III Program Fish and Sediment Sampling and Analysis Study – AECOM – 2014 and 2017 – Apra Harbor, Guam
Directed field operations and collected target bottom fish and sediment samples throughout the Apra Harbor Naval Complex to evaluate a potential link between sediment and fish tissue contamination and assess the human health risk associated with fish consumption. Collected fish using bottom deployed gill nets and hook lines, sediment surface samples with a Van Veen, and sediment core samples with a vibracore.
US Navy Dredged Material Sampling and Tier III Evaluations – 2003 to 2017- Pearl Harbor, Hawaii
Performed numerous Tier III dredge material evaluations within Pearl Harbor, Hawaii including the Main Channel Dredge Material Evaluation and the Ford Island Bridge Retrofit Study. Collected sediment core samples throughout Southeast Loch, West Loch, and Middle Loch as well as the main navigational channel to determine potential disposal options for dredge material. Directed field operations including development of sampling designs, managing logistics, and collecting sediment and water samples for analysis. Wrote work plans and reports and served as the Site Manager/Health and Safety Officer for several projects.
US Navy Dredged Material Sampling and Tier III Evaluations – 2003 to 2017 – Apra Harbor, Guam
Performed numerous Tier III dredge material evaluations within both inner and outer Apra Harbor, Guam. Collected sediment core samples at every wharf area within Inner Apra throughout Southeast Loch, West Loch, and Middle Loch as well as the main navigational channel to determine potential disposal options for dredge material. Directed field operations including development of sampling designs, managing logistics, and collecting sediment and water samples for analysis. Wrote work plans and reports and served as the Site Manager/Health and Safety Officer for several projects.
US Navy Maintenance Dredge Material Study – 2016 – Yokohama, Japan
Collected sediment core samples for analysis at the Navy Base in Yokohama, Japan to determine disposal options for material to be dredged. Mobilized equipment to Yokohama and ensured sample integrity was maintained during shipping of samples from Japan to the United States for chemical, physical, and biological analysis.
Dredge Material Evaluation for Preparation of an Environmental Assessment for the Ammunition Pier and Turning Basin – 2016 – Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach, California
Collected sediment core and soil samples throughout the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station Harbor to determine potential disposal options for future realignment plans. Evaluated material for chemical, physical, and biological parameters to determine the suitability for potential ocean or upland disposal as well as beneficial uses including habitat creation and beach replenishment. Prepared Sampling and Analysis Plan, evaluated chemical and biological data, and wrote final report.
US Army Corps Hawaii Ports Dredge Material Study – Hawaiian Islands
Directed field operations and collected sediment surface and core samples throughout the Hawaiian Islands to delineate areas and depths of contaminated sediments prior to dredging. Performed sampling in Honolulu Harbor, Hilo Harbor, Kahului Harbor, Nawiliwili Harbor, and Kikiaola Harbor.
US Navy Maintenance and Construction Dredge Material Study – Okinawa, Japan
Collected sediment core samples for analysis at the Navy Pier and Small Boat Basin at White Beach Naval Complex in Okinawa, Japan. Mobilized equipment, ensured sample integrity was maintained during shipping of samples to the US for analysis, prepared sampling and analysis plan and final report. The final report included a dredge material placement determination on Okinawa.
